- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs room temperature
- 1 cup whole milk room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a round cake pan with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Mix gently until smooth.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a rack.
Use room temperature ingredients for best results
Do not overmix the batter to keep cake soft
